Our team at Conrad Roofing of Illinois recently completed a barrel roof installation in Chicago’s East Hyde Park neighborhood. The original roof was suffering from leaks, and the owner of the property initially wanted us to facilitate some repairs.

After further consultation, the property owner opted to install an entirely new roof, choosing a curved metal roof as the replacement. Our team helped them find an ideal material and color, then proceeded with the replacement.

Installing a Standing Seam Metal Barrel Roof

As was noted above, this project included the installation of a new barrel roof. This roof was made from 24-gauge standing seam metal and included a series of curved panels. Each panel measured in at 16 inches in width. We fabricated these panels in-house, then proceeded with the installation.

After removing the existing roofing materials, we carefully laid the curved standing seam metal panels across the roof’s surface, connecting them so that they possess no gaps.

We helped the owner pick out the hunter green color that we ultimately used. It offers a nice contrast with the rest of the building’s red-orange brick exterior, giving the property a sharp and eye-catching look overall.

Installing a New Gutter System

In addition to installing a barrel roof, we also installed a new gutter system. This is made from the same material as the roof and possesses, and the same color as well. It works in tandem with the barrel roofing portion to effectively carry rainfall away from the structure, thereby keeping wear and tear to a minimum.
